Dear Neighbor,
One hundred days ago, I told you that House Democrats are united and ready to get to work. And we have done just that.
We have put People Over Politics to deliver real results for everyday Americans. Economic growth is up, inflation is down and over twelve million new jobs have been created. This is a record in modern American history.
And while we have been hard at work, House Republicans have been determined to cut Social Security and Medicare. Our response has been clear: Not now, not ever, will we let you touch Social Security or Medicare. I worked with my colleagues in the House to introduce legislation to protect the right of workers to organize as well as break harmful patterns of pay discrimination and strengthen workplace protections for women to help build our economy from the middle out and from the bottom up.
And while extremists on the other side of the aisle have been focused on bringing divisive culture wars into classrooms, I called on Speaker McCarthy to immediately bring up common sense gun safety legislation for a vote. The House must bring the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, Assault Weapons Ban and other gun safety measures to the House floor as soon as possible. Our children cannot wait.
Right-wing ideologues are determined to jam their extreme views down the throats of the American people and attack abortion care and reproductive freedom. Last month, House Democrats reintroduced the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify under federal law the right to receive and give abortion care. House Democrats will always fight to protect reproductive freedom, and we will not rest until this legislation is the law of the land.
This all builds upon a historic track record of success under the leadership of President Biden. Democrats have made unprecedented investments in our roads, bridges and mass transit systems, passed gun safety legislation for the first time in 30 years, brought manufacturing jobs back home to the United States, enacted health benefits for our veterans, struck a blow against the climate crisis and drove down the high cost of life-saving prescription drugs.
Democrats have continued to deliver results for the American people. I look forward to continuing to deliver for the next 100 days and beyond. Onward!
